Celebrating Compassion within Our Communities

The care we provide here at Tapping House touches lives far beyond the walls of our Hospice.

The care we provide here at Tapping House touches lives far beyond the walls of our Hospice. It’s our fundamental belief that compassion exists in abundance within our local communities, and that together we can make sure no one faces challenges alone.  So many people find it incredibly difficult to talk about death, dying and bereavement and often feel uncomfortable with issues and emotions around this subject.

We are committed to addressing these important issues.

Compassion is the thread that weaves people together

“At the heart of a Compassionate Community is the understanding that everyone has a role in supporting one another, especially during times of crisis and loss.”

Empowering Local Communities

Compassionate Communities at Tapping House is about helping people feel cared for and supported through life’s most difficult times. We want to make sure no one faces the end of life alone, and that families, friends, neighbours, and communities feel confident to talk openly about serious illness, death, dying, and bereavement.

Our aims are to:

· Raise awareness of the services at Tapping House so local people know where to turn for support.

· Encourage open conversations about illness, dying, and loss so they feel less overwhelming.

· Empower communities to support one another to live well until the end of life.

· Provide clear information, guidance, and education to help with planning for future care and decision-making.

· Signpost people to other organisations and services that can offer the right support.

· Work together with local groups and partners to build kindness and compassion in our communities.

In short, we’re here to make sure everyone feels supported, informed, and connected when facing the challenges of end of life. As part of the Compassionate Communities East, we collaborate across Norfolk and Waveney to share vital resources.

None of us can predict what tomorrow may bring

“By fostering open conversations and shared knowledge, we create a society where no one has to face the end of life alone, and everyone is met with compassion and dignity.”

Planning For Future Care

Planning for the future is important for everyone regardless of their current health. It makes sure that everyone knows what you would want if you became sick enough that you couldn’t speak for yourself.

Future Care Planning

Planning for the future is important for everyone regardless of their current health. It makes sure that everyone knows what you would want if you became sick enough that you couldn’t speak for yourself.

Planning ahead doesn’t have to be scary or difficult.

“Why shouldn’t we talk about what we would like so that our final days and hours the are the best they can be…?”

Thinking, talking, sharing, and writing down what is important to you about your future takes time and consideration. It’s a way to focus on the things that matter most to you now and how that informs your wishes and priorities about your future care.

If you’re thinking about this, for you or a family member, come and find out a little bit more. We are running some information sessions where we explore this, and have an opportunity to look through some of the resources available.

Compassionate Friends
