“The extraordinary loving care and unwavering support the team at Tapping House showed to my wife Sarah and continue to provide to families every day is truly impeccable. It’s the expertise and thoughtful care that provoke a feeling of gratitude in all those who have been supported by the Hospice. “

Outstanding Care
Our dedicated inpatient team provides outstanding nursing and medical care to patients with a wide range of symptoms associated with a life-shortening illness, as well as their families and loved ones.
We offer access to complementary therapies, spiritual, emotional and psychological support, family support, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy to help you manage your symptoms and provide comfort during your time with us.
Patients can spend time out in our gardens if they’d like or rest in our homely dayroom, where we have books, music, puzzles and comfy sofas. As well as our qualified nurses, our volunteers are on-hand to help with activities such as helping a patient to write letters or create memory boxes.
If you are being discharged home or to another care setting (such as a care home) after your stay with us, we work closely with your GP, community nurses, and other healthcare professionals to make sure you receive seamless care.
Your Information
We understand sharing information is vital for your care and you can rest assured we handle it with the utmost confidentiality. Our team members share information only on a ‘need-to-know’ basis and only with those directly involved in your care. Your privacy is a top priority, and we’ll only share details with your consent.
How to Refer
If you’d like to be referred to our Hospice, just speak to your doctor or healthcare professional.
We’ll arrange to visit you at home or in the hospital before your admission to make sure we understand your needs and can plan your care effectively.
Our focus is on care at the end of life or short-term admissions for symptom management, where the average length of stay is two to four weeks.
What to Expect
When you’re with us, whether for end-of-life care or for help to manage troubling symptoms, you and your loved ones will meet our caring team of professionals and volunteers.
We’re all here to help with anything you need – whether that’s practical support, emotional care, or simply someone to share a friendly chat with. There’s no strict routine; we want you to feel at home. Our on-site kitchen prepares meals and snacks and we’re happy to cater to any special dietary needs.
The specialist palliative care and support from our team is truly impeccable and ultimately our Hospice provides a beautiful setting with expert nursing to patients and loved ones at a difficult moment in their lives.
Rooms
Our nurse-led unit features nine, large en suite bedrooms so you can feel comfortable during your stay. Each room is equipped with a TV, WiFi and lovely views of our gardens, making it a peaceful space to rest.
Visiting Hours
We don’t have set visiting hours – your family and friends are welcome to visit whenever you need them and can stay overnight if you would like them to. Pets are also welcome and encouraged!
Understanding our Approach
At the Hospice, we don’t have a ‘cardiac arrest team’ because it’s uncommon for patients receiving hospice care to undergo cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Patients typically have significant underlying health issues, which makes the chances of a successful outcome from CPR very low.
