Highlighting the Importance of Legacy Giving

A national hospice awareness campaign led by Hospice UK has launched this week. The campaign, This is Hospice Care, shines a light on the incredible and wide-ranging work that hospices carry out every day.

The campaign encourages people to consider leaving a Gift in their Will to support their local hospice, helping to ensure that compassionate care continues for future generations. Legacy giving is a meaningful way to create a lasting impact, a final act of love and kindness for your community.

Why Hospice Care Matters

Hospice care is about far more than many people realise. It is about living well, right to the end of life. It supports families, carers and loved ones. It offers specialist clinical care, emotional support, bereavement services and practical help, often in people’s homes as well as within hospice settings.

Every day, hospices across the UK provide compassionate care to people facing life-limiting illness. Much of that care is made possible through charitable support.

At Tapping House, we are privileged to support local people and their families through life-limiting illness. Our aim is to be there for everyone who needs us, now and in the years ahead. This specialist care is only possible because of the kindness and generosity of our supporters. Gifts in Wills are a vital way of helping us continue to care for our community.

The Power of a Gift in Your Will

By leaving a gift to Tapping House in your Will, you make sure that your legacy is one of kindness, compassion and lasting impact, helping to make every moment matter for those who need it most.

A gift in your Will is a simple act of kindness that will be felt for generations to come.

Gifts in Wills currently fund around 20% of our work. Running our Hospice costs £6.8 million each year, and thanks to the generosity of our community, 76% of that funding comes from people just like you, supporting compassionate care when families need it most.

With services like our outpatient Tulip Centre, Hospice at Home, Rapid Response Team and Dr Hugh Ford Inpatient Unit, we go above and beyond to deliver holistic, personal care, day and night. We also offer emotional support through our specialist pastoral care team, providing comfort and guidance to patients and families during difficult times.

As one of our patients, Karen Flinders, shares:

“Everybody thinks hospices are about death. They’re not about death. Far from it. They are places of life and of joy.”

No matter the size, your legacy gift has the power to change lives. It could help make sure that someone’s loved one, perhaps even a member of your own family, receives the compassionate care they deserve in their final days.

As our CEO, Niki Ellis, says:

“There has never been a time of such financial pressure. We are extremely lucky to have an amazing community behind us who have always stepped up.”
