Tapping House Opens New Charity Shop in Wells-next-the-Sea – A Welcome Addition to the Local Community

WELLS-NEXT-THE-SEA, NORFOLK – 29 June 2025 – Tapping House is delighted to announce the opening of its newest charity shop at 1 High Street, Wells-next-the-Sea, bringing a treasure trove of pre-loved goods to the heart of the town. The shop opens as part of the Hospice’s continued efforts to raise funds to support patients and families across Norfolk and North Cambridgeshire. 

Filled with pre-loved fashion finds, useful household items, great reads, and one-of-a-kind treasures donated by the local community, the shop offers something for everyone, whether you’re a curious browser or a savvy second-hand shopper. Best of all, every purchase helps fund the vital palliative and end-of-life care that Tapping House provides to people across Norfolk and North Cambridgeshire. 

Even small purchases can make a big difference: 

• A tea set (£15) could fund a mobile phone for a month for the Rapid Response Team, keeping patients and nurses connected. 

• A wedding hat or jacket (£25) could pay for a day’s worth of laundry on the Inpatient Unit, ensuring comfort and dignity for patients. 
• Just £40 could provide one therapy session at the Tulip Centre – supporting emotional well-being for patients or family members. 

“We’re thrilled to be opening our doors in such a vibrant and welcoming town,” said Sally Chandler, Retail Manager at Tapping House. “Wells-next-the-Sea has a real sense of community and we hope our new shop will become a much-loved part of that – a place to find great items, support a vital cause, and even meet new people.” 

Tapping House has been caring for the West Norfolk community since 1984, with services including inpatient care, outpatient support, home visits and bereavement counselling. As the only independent Hospice in the region, it relies on the generosity of donors, shoppers and volunteers to continue its work.
