Oliver is an acclaimed travel writer, for ten years a mainstay of the Lonely Planet Magazine, winning ‘Travel Writer of The Year’ on four occasions. He came to solo travel when still a very young man, finding that travelling on a shoe-string and alone, relying on local people brings a deeper insight into the places he visits.
His latest book, ‘ON THIS HOLY ISLAND’, is his account of travelling around this country, exploring places prehistoric, pagan, Christian and even the stadiums and festival sites today to consider what is PILGRIMAGE.
